Schneider Electric India will install a second unit in Telangana and invest Rs 300 cr

Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd will set up its second facility in Telangana with an investment of Rs 300 crore, company CEO and CEO Anil Chaudhary said on Thursday.

The factory will be located on an 18-acre site in the GMR Industrial Park in the state capital of Telangana.

He spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the facilities where the Minister of IT, Municipal Administration and Urban Development of Telangana, KT Rama Rao, was the main guest.

“The new state-of-the-art smart factory is a testament to our commitment to building Hyderabad into a leading manufacturing hub in the country. We will invest over Rs 300 crore in this project, which in turn will create an additional 1,000 jobs.” Chaudhary said.

Rao said in his speech that Telangana is becoming a hub for manufacturers. He said the new Schneider Electric unit will be the company’s largest factory in India.

“The upcoming smart factory will greatly contribute to the state’s economy, which is reinforcing its position as a leading investment hotbed.

“With India growing as an economic powerhouse, the opportunities are huge. We believe that this facility, in addition to meeting the needs of the industry, will also increase income-generating opportunities and boost job creation,” Rao said in his speech.

Javed Ahmad, senior vice president of global supply chain, international region, Schneider Electric said this will be the company’s 31st factory in India.

The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase of the 2 lakh square foot facility expected to be completed by September 2023, it said.

A total of 30 units of the company are operating in various locations around the country, including one in Gachibowli, Telangana.

The company will produce energy products at the next unit and aims to export 75 percent of production, Ahmad said.

Schneider Electric India is a subsidiary of the French firm Schneider Electric.

French Ambassador HE Emmanuel Lenain, who was at the event, said: “Schneider Electric’s presence for decades in India is a success story that reflects the strength of the Indo-French partnership and France’s commitment to help help India achieve its sustainable development goals.
