Little can match the seasonal joy of baking Christmas cookies: the smell of cinnamon and sweetness fill the air and, when it comes to Christmas cookies, the festive sparkle of green and red sugar crystals. There is nothing like that.
But for those times in a busy life when you want a shortcut to holiday cookies, something to have on hand when friends and neighbors drop by, and that blends the festive and the familiar, Oreo is launching a new limited-edition flavor that may be just the thing: Snickerdoodle.
The Oreo Snickerdoodle sandwich cookies, which will be available nationwide, while supplies last, starting Oct. 17, combine sugar and spice — cinnamon, to be precise. They feature snickerdoodle-flavored cookies interspersed with cinnamon-flavored “cream” decorated with green and red “crunchy” sugar crystals. The 12.2-ounce gold packaging features little pine trees and snowflakes, so you know it’s a winter holiday thing.
A Nabisco spokesperson suggests monitoring the OREO Twitter Channel to get “smart” suggestions about the new flavor. We think it’s smart to have them on hand. It’s always nice to have a backup gift to serve guests, in case you’ve eaten all the freshly baked Christmas cookies before they arrive…
