Robot vacuum cleaners have come a long way since we started to try them a decade ago. Based on the results of our test labs, and I’ve been testing robot vacuums for over 10 years, we’re getting to the point where robot vacuums will be on par with hand vacuums.
The problem is that there are so many robotic vacuum cleaners to choose from that it can be confusing which ones are worth checking out. To help separate the wheat from the chaff, we’re going to go over three of our top picks.

1.iRobot Roomba j7+
For whom?: the iRobot Roomba j7+ it is for a family with a pet and relatively open floor plans.
iRobot is the best known of the robot vacuum brands. The reason is that the company has been putting out quality products for years and years. The iRobot Roomba j7+ is the latest example of what the company has to offer.
The j7+ is the all-rounder in the world of high-end robot vacuums, offering excellent cleaning, the ability to self-empty and being up-to-date with many of the latest software developments.
It also comes with a promise to never run over pet poop. And, don’t worry, we put that appeal to the test and the j7+ passed with flying colors.
2. Eufy 11S
For whom is this?: Anyone looking for a basic and affordable robot vacuum cleaner
When it comes to value, it’s hard to beat the Eufy 11S. Whether you get the vanilla version or the Max model, the Eufy 11S can be had for less than $250.
During testing in our robotic vacuum cleaner obstacle course, the 11S proved its worth. It picked up about 11 grams of dirt per pass, which means the 11S can help maintain floors over the course of a week.
One of the reasons this Eufy is such a great cleaner is its size. It measures 2.85 inches tall, making it 10-15% shorter than the average robot vacuum. The end result is that 9/11 is much better able to get at dust buildups under shelves and furniture.
That 11S doesn’t have any smart features, but that may be a feature itself and not a bug.
3. Ecovac Deebot X1 Omni
For whom is this?: Anyone who wants a robot vacuum, mop, and security camera in one device.
If you prefer to follow the rhythm of “The Jetsons” instead of “The Joneses”, check out the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. This vacuum cleaner and mop hybrid has all the cutting edge features. You can self-empty your dustbin and self-clean your mops.
Plus, you can remotely control it while streaming video to your phone, turning it into a mobile security camera.
In vacuum mode, the X1 picked up 10 grams of crumbs per cycle. When we ordered it to mop, it removed chocolate syrup and baby powder from our linoleum and hardwood test platforms.
